Entrepreneurship is not for the Faint-Hearted

I am not an expert in business, neither do I know all the ins and outs of commerce.  I just happen to graduate with a degree in Entrepreneurship.  So what am I implying with my my post title?  Well, actually not much but I am speaking thru experience.

As they say, experience is the best teacher.  I had the opportunity to experience the  best of both worlds: being a boss and an employee.  I have a small business and I had been a part of companies ran by Filipinos and foreign nationalities.  My business is actually just a passion and obviously cannot be compared with the companies I had been with.  For a number of reasons, I still chose to leave the corporate world and continue my business, which had been sleeping for at almost five years. You wonder: why?

First, FREEDOM.  Freedom from the rat race.  Freedom from erring bosses and co-workers.  Freedom from fake BODs.  Freedom from being controlled and endless following of stupid tasks.  And the list goes on.

Second, LESSER of everything.  Lesser stress.  Lesser fake people.  Lesser traffic.  Lesser dragging of oneself to the office.  Lesser hassle.  Lesser complains. Just lesser.

Third, MORE.  More respect and love for myself.  More time for my family and to do the things I want.  More chances  to travel and discover the things I missed when I was in the corporate world.  More realizations.  More sleeps.  More room to improve myself.  Most of all, more room to develop my talents and more opportunities to explore the world of Entrepreneurship.

Lastly, MY DREAMS.  I have always known in my heart that I am not the employee type.*. I want to be an Entrepreneur.  An entrepreneur who is willing to make a change in the world for the good of all.  Building companies  that will make a big impact on everyone’s lives.  And with that dream, I am starting small until eventually I reach my dreams of impacting lives for the better.

Yeah, I know that I do not have a regular income, no bonuses, no hmo, and stripped of other benefits in the corporate world, but I have monthly sales, having more clients is one of my bonuses, I Have an hmo (thanks to my husband!),I am more responsible in handling my finances that I could afford to pay my contributions.  I can have a vacation anytime without the need of asking a boss to approve my leave.  Added bonus is being able to continue my other passions anytime.

Wait a minute, why is that my title? Because behind all the perks of being an entrepreneur is a life full of surprises.  Surprises that can either break or make you.  Surprises that can be an opportunity or
a threat. Surprises that can bring you upward or cause your downfall.  It all depends on how you handle every situation that comes youe way.

Being an entrepreneur is not easy as it literally means because everyday is a learning process and often times, failure is the only option.  However, do not get me wrong.  When I mean “failure is the only option”, it simply means to pick yourself up and try again.  Entrepreneurship is a boundless world of ideas.  It simply doesnt end and offers more opportunities to everyone.  The challenge is finding those opportunities.

Failure is a word that no faint-hearted can ever conquer. Failure is a part of being an entrepreneur.  Therefore, An entrepreneur is not for the faint-hearted.  It takes wits and guts to conquer and change the world for the better.  Challenges are just the tip of the iceberg but they managed.

So will I.  Maybe I am far from being an entrepreneur.  I may be small now and picking myself up from where I have left the pieces.  I have struggled and failed but I am learning.  I believe in my company and how it can transform the lives of others.  Giving up is not an option.  I am not yet done.  This is just the beginning.  In my own small way, I have succeeded.

*Please know that I am grateful for being an employee.  It has molded me to be the kind of person I want to be.  By being an employee, it would help me be an efficient and effective leader in the (near) future of my own company.  In short, I learned many things, which would be beneficial for me and my partners.
